A Bonza Life – The Story of a Baby Boomer

I am a Baby Boomer. Born and bred in Brisbane, Australia, I lived a very average Boomer life in a rabbit warren of a house in Auchenflower with my returned WW2 soldier dad, stay at home mum and my five siblings.

We walked to school in those days and stayed and played within a 2 mile radius of our home with other Boomer families for twenty years before venturing out into the world with other Boomer mates and eventually started our own families to produce another generation.

Historians will be surprised how simple a life we lived in the Boomer suburbs with few pressures and plenty of support but it was our generation’s lifestyle and it certainly allowed for a vivid imagination to entertain ourselves as there was no TV initially and little to do and see until our teen years.

I have long since adapted to a changed world, which I am sure we created by liberating society in many ways but it has been an interesting journey with school failures, pop revolutions, clashes with police over Vietnam when I was bashed by them and ultimately ruined lives over the high expectations of the ideal world we boomers envisaged.

As an average boomer I tried to influence the thinking of many Australian and New Zealand politicians with inter-generational thinking through Grey Skills and BONZA and was an advocate for boomer reform long before we truly became the nuisance generation.

My book is a record of those times and I invite you to review my Boomer life in a much simpler time as an average Boomer and I am sure will encourage Boomers to reflex on their lives. You will also witness my frustration in trying to outlaw ageism in the workplace through advocating to politicians in Australia and NZ on behalf of all mature age workers by demonstrating in front of the Australian Parliament in Canberra and through the Bonza Report in 2018.

I am now a website advocate as editor of www.bonza.com.au and will continue to support my generation in any way I can.
