     – One Family’s Journey through the Australian Aged Care System

Bob Wallace had a stellar career, retiring as a Deputy Superintendent in NSW Corrective Services. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Sarah had the skills to care for her husband, having worked in the UK and Australian health systems but she could not have imagined the nightmare of dealing with the Australian aged care system.

Sarah exposes an abusive and broken system, incapable of responding to Bob, or her needs as his carer. The Wallaces were dishonestly tricked into a residentially-based assessment, where Bob was given a drug that acted like ‘ICE’. Sarah quickly signed him out. For fourteen months, with love and humour, they managed at home until, needing a break, she was persuaded to put Bob into two-week respite. He would never return home.

We follow Sarah and Bob through hospital emergency wards, mental health units and dementia-specific ‘homes’. Dismissive, uncaring ‘professionals’ took control of her husband, restraining him physically and through a cocktail of inappropriate drugs. This left Bob unable to communicate, hastening his death. Sarah’s resolution and courage underpin a chronicle of systemic disaster. As she writes, this should never have happened – to anyone.

  • Lifetime Money

Like a player in a casino, you are programmed to inevitably lose your money, assets, time and effort. Despite this pessimistic view, learning the rules of the game and making your own luck is still within your grasp.

Do you feel that you are lacking ‘something’ or have unmet expectations in life? Have you ever wondered if working and earning money is simply a means to an end?

Lee Jae Kwon, author of Design Your Future and Attitude Makes Opportunities, has spent a significant portion of his life contemplating the links between happiness and financial success. Lifetime Money shares the lessons he has learned in the hope that it will help readers to prepare for their future and realize their dreams.

This insightful guide focuses on the concept of Lifetime Money (LTM), a specific amount of money one must calculate that will ensure a comfortable future, post retirement. It delves into the current economic systems that limit the achievement of one’s LTM, discusses how to increase one’s value through self-management, outlines ten working styles, and provides advice on how to achieve LTM through five essential factors.

Although achieving Lifetime Money is an essential factor in the pursuit of happiness, Lee Jae Kwon also reminds us that making money is simply a means to an end and must be considered in the wider context of what you truly value in life.

  • Poetry and Hot Chocolate

Poetry and Hot Chocolate is book two in a series of four books.

The windows frosted up with falling flakes
The snow grew denser and covered footsteps
As the fire started to soften its crackling
The smooth serene-sounding radio took its place
The living room felt cosy as I snuggled into my blanket
And forgot the troubles that resided in my past
    Instead enjoying the current moment
Looking at the frozen tears of God that eloquently descended
I took a whiff of the vanilla-scented candles
That propelled me to scribble down a few poems
While I sipped my bliss-infused hot chocolate

  • PUD The Wannabe Cat

PUD was our cat and he disappeared for 2 weeks several years ago. After using posters around the community and posting on social media, we gave up and thought he was gone until one night, around midnight, we were woken again by his familiar cry.

The book covers his adventures and use of his nine lives to survive and will be published by Aurora House Publishing as were the first two of my books. They are very easy to work with and are an Australian company.

The talented Donika Mishineva produced the cover; illustrations were drawn by Boomer artist and advocate Keith Blake and yes it was written by me for parents/grandparents to read to children or 4-9 year olds to read for themselves.

I like the challenge of writing different genres and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience in bringing Pud back to life.

  • Stop Smoking Start Vaping – The Healthy Truth About Vaping

“This book is a must for any smoker who wants to know if vaping can help them quit (I wish I’d known about it earlier)”
Senator Hollie Hughes. Chair of the Australian Senate Select Committee on Tobacco Harm Reduction

If you are a smoker who can’t quit, this book could literally save your life. Vaping nicotine is the world’s most popular and most effective quitting aid. However, it is controversial and poorly understood.

Dr Mendelsohn outlines the scientific evidence in simple terms so you can make an informed decision about whether it could work for you.

Is it really safer than smoking? Does vaping cause ‘popcorn lung’? Does nicotine cause cancer? Is vaping cheaper than smoking?

The book guides you through the maze of getting started. What vaping device should you buy? How much nicotine do you need? How can Australians get a nicotine prescription? How do you actually vape and when should you stop?

Part three examines the controversies around vaping and why it is opposed by many health authorities. Is it really a serious threat to young people? Is it another ploy by the tobacco industry to get more people smoking? How should vaping be regulated to get the best public health outcomes?

There is still more to learn about vaping, but one thing is for certain. If you are a smoker who can’t quit, switching to vaping could be the best thing you will ever do for your health and your wallet.
