It never hurts to go back to the basics. Vince Lombardi told the Green Bay Packers, “Gentlemen, this is a football.” Of course, they knew that. They were, after all, professional football players. Frank Cianfagna takes this approach to help musicians become better players. In The Stronger Musician: A Drummer’s Guide to Creative Control, Frank shares the basics in a fun and educational way. I started playing the recorder in the 3rd grade. This was the instrument schools used to teach children the basics of music. In 1964, I graduated to playing the trombone. I have almost 60 years of experience, but I found this book enjoyable and helpful. One of the problems many musicians have is rhythm. This book is a fantastic resource to help you improve your rhythm.

Understanding rhythmic phrasing and musicality will improve your musical ability, whether you are a beginner or a professional. Frank
Cianfagna has years of experience as a professional musician. He is a drummer, so he writes with the drummer in mind. However, the
knowledge gained in The Stronger Musician: A Drummer’s Guide to Creative Control benefits all musicians. Many beginner musicians
don’t understand the importance of rhythm. I remember spending endless hours learning to count beats. I did it by rote. Frank makes
learning fun. I highly recommend this book to all who play any type of instrument. Even after mastering the basics, it is always wise to
go back and review. Repetition is the mucilage of memory. Learn to practice until you reach perfection, then practice some more. This
book will make your practice fun.

Author Bio

Frank Cianfagna

Frank Cianfagna began learning drums at the age of twelve, inspired by a relative’s drum kit hidden in the garage. From a young age, listening to his favourite bands, he knew that playing music was his calling. He began learning drums under formal private tuition for fi ve years, before playing
in his fi rst band at age sixteen.

Over the next few years, he began gigging frequently with more accomplished bands as his reputation as a performer began to grow. By mid-twenties, he became a pro-active contributor to the Perth music scene, playing in some of Perth’s best cover bands and touring around Australia. In 2014, he moved to
America where he completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. For Frank, it was a dream come true and a great platform for growth as a musician.

After graduating in 2018, he moved to Nashville where he landed an artist gig performing with up-and-coming country artist Tyler Resch. In late 2019, Frank returned to Perth where he continues to freelance and teach music.

Frnak’s new book is about drumming for beginners – The Stronger Musician is easy to read and follow for beginners and advanced musicians.
